Shimes

Shimes got into the world of broadcasting accidentally on purpose. Can you guess how it went down? Yep, all for a girl. Wanting to make an impression, wanting her wanting… Well, fast forward to 2016 (a “couple” years later…) the girl is long gone, but Shimes lives on ... reaching you from airwaves across the land! Shimes has but one real question to pose to the world: “Jennifer Aniston- Would you like steak or fish for dinner?” Seriously though, Shimes has been a BIG part of Equinox Broadcasting for twenty years! He’s been equally a big part of announcing the hockey games at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena for about as long! His claim to fame (besides the obvious) is winning the NYS Chili Championships in 2004. He’s a big part of the Union-Endicott Tiger's Pride Marching Band... and kicks ass on the drums! He’s also had the pleasure of interviewing former Nascar Drivers Dale Earnhardt, Darrel Waltrip, Alan Kulwicki, and let Kenny Wallace and Kyle Petty take over the studio and take over the "Shimes in the Morning Show"... plus ... He's interviewed music artists such as Styx, Lynard Skynard, Meatloaf, Molly Hatchett, Chubby Checker, Donna Summer, Frankie Valli, Gary Lewis, and Bret Michaels. He’s also a level four hockey youth coach.

Judith Gross

Judith’s first love is radio. She’s an award-winning audio producer and spent most of her working life in front of a microphone. She’s also a professional writer who has written for, and been the editor of, several prominent magazines about broadcasting. Radio is personal to Judith, who grew up listening to some of the on-air greats in New York City. She credits the music of her generation for helping her through childhood and adolescence. The Southern Tier is her chosen home base and she feels a special pride in working for a locally-owned radio group that does so much for the surrounding community. The most important part of her day is making that special connection with listeners and being their companion as they drive to work, eat lunch and go about their day. She defines success as being able to cheer up a listener who’s having a tough day or spark a smile and a laugh. She’s very knowledgeable and passionate about the music and loves telling inside stories about songs and artists. Judith also enjoys making public appearances at station events and live remote broadcasts and getting to talk to listeners in person. To Judith, radio is more than a way to make a living; it’s her calling and she can’t imagine doing anything else.

Thunder Reynolds

What do we ever REALLY know about Thunder? A booming personality on the air, Thunder Reynolds has a gift to make you laugh, shake your head, scratch your brow all while thinking “well, that just happened!”
If you grew up in Broome County, you probably grew up listening to Thunder Reynolds. Though many clothing and hairstyles have come and gone, Thunder has managed to stick around, like a bad mullet.
Although you would think he shares a good portion of his life’s experiences on the air every day, he is actually quite reserved. It almost takes an act of Congress for him to be friends with you on Facebook (and we’re not kidding, don’t even bother trying!). We did find out that he is a big hockey fan, looks forward to his annual Toys for Tots Spaghetti dinners, enjoys running in his birthday suite, and if you’re ever looking for him, you can find him belly up to the bar with a glass of well-whiskey (hey, he’s a DJ. He can’t afford top shelf).
Over the past couple of years, Thunder has been filling up his concert bucket list including Fleetwood Mac, Eagles, Bob Segar, U2, Zac Brown Band, and Mumford and Sons. He’s planning more for the near future.

Bill Flynn

Bill Flynn is a living legend for broadcasting in the Southern Tier and beyond. He has been gracing the airwaves since 1973. A member of the Binghamton Broadcasting Hall of Fame, one of his proudest moments was the opportunity to introduce Ronald Reagan during a local rally back in the 80's. He is not only the host of the Bill Flynn Show on COOL106.7 but he also host of the ever-popular Let's Polka on WSKG. When he's not in the studio, you can find him out on the town at one of the many local church and polka festivals as part of the Bill Flynn Festival Tour.
